With its cliffs overlooking the sea, this is the ideal itinerary for morocyclists: a journey through the wonders of nature with nuraghi (ancient Sardinian buildings) and secret coves. Loved above all by solitary travellers, Sardinia is the most popular destination among bikers, because of the emotion that many of the spectacular, winding coastal and hillside roads arouse, making them suited to even the boldest of motorcyclists. The coastal stretch that leads from Bosa to Alghero is a perfect example of this.

a road that looks like a TV commercial, loved by motorcyclists and bikers

From Bosa to Alghero, the charm is so great that this stretch of road is memorable to bikers and passengers alike. Famous as Occidentale Sarda (Western Sardinia), it offers a winding trail full of bends, where you can discover the wildest nature, marine scenery with cliffs overlooking the sea, chosen more than once by various car manufacturers for commercials to present their new models.

Bosa and its colours: a unique location in Sardinia

It is dominated by the Serravalle hill, on which the castle of Malaspina stands and from which the houses of the medieval village descend down to the banks of the river Temo. Bosa has a unique landscape, as a result of the harmony and vitality of its colours: the green centuries-old olive trees, the blue sea in the background, the pink stone used to ennoble the houses in the area of Sa Costa and the red and yellow used on the traditional fishermen's boats. It is a city of art in which there are prestigious religious buildings like San Pietro etxra muros, the most ancient Romanesque church in Sardinia, and Nostra Signora de Sos Regnos Altos, inside the castle. Its traditions are centuries old: coral working and tanneries, the export of precious yarns and a trade in woven baskets, delicacies from the sea and the countryside, among which Malvasia wine.

the charm of the rock faces where rare birds of prey fly

Of the various tourist itineraries, also suitable for all bikers, from cycling tourists to the greatest experts, you can visit treasures like the Badde Aggiosu nature reserve and Monte Mannu or the underwater attractions, like snorkelling in the marine bio park of Capo Marrargiu, where you can do some exciting bird watching: on the rock faces overlooking the sea where peregrine falcons, eagles and griffon vultures, an extremely rare species, make their nests.
