The seven wonders

Sardinia confirms itself as the most desired destination, and its beaches as the most highly appreciated.

According to the ranking of a well-known travel website, which each year selects the fifty most beautiful beaches in the world, in 2026 seven of the best beaches in Europe and two of the best in the world are located in Sardinia: its coastal gems dominate the rankings, with Cala dei Gabbiani placed eighteenth in the world ranking.

A rare gem on the coast of Baunei

Ranked third in the European classification — and eighteenth in the world — Cala dei Gabbiani once again confirms itself as a highly sought-after and increasingly beloved destination. Surrounded by tall limestone cliffs rising dramatically behind it, the cove is set in an unspoiled landscape where Mediterranean scrub fills the air with its fragrance and the silence is broken only by the sound of the waves. The name comes from the seagulls that populate the beach at sunset, leaving it quiet during the day. Cala dei Gabbiani represents an ideal destination for those seeking a still-pure corner of Sardinia, where sea and rock create an exceptionally beautiful balance.

More than a beach, a work of art by nature

A film-like paradise in the far north-west, which earned 48th place in the world ranking and 10th place in the European one. La Pelosa Beach is a masterpiece: made up of fine, white sand, crystal-clear shallow seabed stretching for dozens of meters, and turquoise and azure waters blending into the sky, with a striking panorama framed by the surrounding towers. The iconic beach of Stintino is protected from the force of the open sea thanks to the sea stacks of Capo Falcone and the islands of Isola Piana and Asinara: its waters, thanks to this natural barrier, are always calm. In front of it you can see a small islet with an Aragonese tower, the symbol of La Pelosa Beach, an essential stop on any trip to northern Sardinia.

A Caribbean-like corner in southern Sardinia

Clear, calm waters, very light soft sand, and a landscape that recalls exotic scenery: Tuerredda Beach — in the territory of Teulada — is one of the gems of Sardinia’s south-western coast. Enclosed between headlands covered in Mediterranean scrub, it ranks thirteenth in the list of the 50 best beaches in Europe 2026. It offers a sea with shades ranging from turquoise to emerald green, ideal for long swims and moments of pure relaxation. The shallow, crystal-clear waters are perfect for snorkeling, among small fish and natural scenery of rare beauty. The jewel of the island of Caprera

Seen from above, along the granite trails that cross the island of Caprera, Cala Coticcio appears like a mirage: a small inlet carved into pink rock, where the white of its very fine sand blends with an incredibly transparent sea in shades of blue. Not by chance, this “Tahiti” of Sardinia has earned 19th place in the European ranking. Here, nature reigns supreme: all around stretches an absolute silence, as if time itself had stopped. Accessible only on foot via a challenging trail or by sea with regulated access, Cala Coticcio represents one of the most precious and unspoiled corners of Sardinia, a small hidden Eden among the island’s rocks.

Clear turquoise sea on the quartz beach

Hundreds of metres of crystal-clear water and tiny, rounded grains of fine quartz, similar to rice grains, create a striking play of colours ranging from green to white and even pink. Is Arutas Beach is one of the jewels of the marine area of the Sinis Peninsula, in the territory of Cabras, an ideal beach for those who love relaxation, ranked 33rd in the list of the 50 best beaches in Europe. Bring a camera and a snorkelling mask: the clarity of the seabed offers a perfect view of underwater life. Friendly fish will cautiously approach you as you discover submerged natural treasures.

A wild wonder, a 'postcard' of eastern Sardinia

Cala Luna is one of the most fascinating jewels of the Gulf of Orosei, a corner of the Mediterranean where nature reveals all its beauty. Among the most iconic beaches in Sardinia and ranked 46th in this year’s European ranking, it stands out for its wide stretch of golden sand, lapped by crystal-clear waters in shades ranging from azure to emerald green. Its name comes from the evocative caves that open along the coastline, creating unique plays of light and shadow. Behind it, cliffs and lush Mediterranean scrub complete a spectacular landscape. It can be reached either by sea or via trekking paths immersed in wild nature.
