By day, places of “boundless spaces and superhuman silences” seemingly disconnected from performances and live shows. By evening, however, music takes over the infinite stages provided by nature and history. Summer in Sardinia also means an irresistible combination of breathtaking locations and great national and international artists. Each year, a lineup captivates and excites an ever-growing audience, offering shows and concerts for all tastes and ages. From refined Italian songwriting to international pop, from rock to hip hop and dance music.
Alghero is one of the island’s musical capitals: besides the summer schedule of JazzAlguer, between July 16th and August 12th, it co-hosts with Sassari the 27th edition of the Abbabula festival. Another historic event, Dromos, enlivens Oristano and several nearby towns from mid-July to mid-August with a traditionally eclectic program. Notable is the event on July 30th at the theatre in the ancient city of Tharros, starring the legendary Dee Dee Bridgewater.
During the Ferragosto week, Olbia draws tens of thousands of young spectators thanks to the Red Valley Festival. Over the years, this event has grown into Italy’s largest crossover festival, featuring pop, rap, urban, and dance music. The stage is set up at the Olbia Arena, just steps away from the city center and the harbor. The tenth edition boasts one of the richest line-ups ever, featuring artists like Max Pezzali, Fedez, Ghali, Anna, Lazza, and Irama. A few days earlier—on August 2nd, 3rd, 8th, and 9th—the enchanting setting of Arbatax's Rocce Rosse hosts the Arabax Music Festival for the fourth consecutive year. Rock lovers, meanwhile, can look forward to the 11th edition of Rock N’Beer, held in early August in Valledoria.
